Teacher - 2 year olds (Monday/Wednesday, Tuesday/Thursday) & 3 year old Friday enrichment
Fine Arts is my background and after graduate school I taught at UWA and UAB. Focusing on ceramics, fiber arts and graphic design. That was all B.C., before children. Once I had children I became a stay at home Mom. Max and Anna both went to AEK and after they went on to big school I started teaching at AEK, 2013. My teaching philosophy is lots of free play and art. Two’s are truly genius at this and it’s my privilege to get a seat at their table.
Teacher - 4 year olds
I am originally from Selma, AL, but currently reside in Vestavia and have been in the Birmingham area for 9 years. I have a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Special Education and a Masters degree in Severe Disabilities, both from The University of Alabama. I worked at Hueytown Elementary School as a special education teacher for six years. My husband, Alex, and I have two children, Welles (4) and Hagen (2). We are active members at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension and have been so for two years. I have been at AEK for one year, and taught as one of the 2’s teachers. I look forward to many more amazing years at AEK!
Rebecca Posey - Director
I grew up in Jackson, MS and received Bachelor's degrees in Elementary Collaborative Education and Dance at Birmingham Southern College. I have taught for 15 years in grades preschool through 5th grade in Episcopal Schools across the Southeast. I was delighted when my husband, Ryan, took job that brought us back to the Birmingham area. We have been living in Vestavia Hills for 2 years now and have become active members at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension. I am a mother of two amazing kids, Anadine (8) and Carter (2). I believe that fostering a love for learning and building good character are the most important aspects of any preschool.
