Our 4s attend school Monday-Friday. We have two classes of four-year-olds. The maximum number of children in each class is 12.
Reading Readiness is the focus of our 4-year-old program as the children learn their letters and beginning sounds. Classrooms are center-based and the teachers guide the children through well-planned activities that promote an eagerness for learning. Math, science and social studies are introduced through the use of creative, hands-on units of study. Use of the Handwriting Without Tears program strengthens alphabet knowledge and letter/number recognition and formation while continuing to develop fine motor skills. We have a love of literature that is passed on to the children through daily reading, imaginative activities based on classic literature, and the availability of quality children’s books. Our 4s attend music and movement classes, story time, and chapel with Father Jack. Highlights of the year include the Gingerbread Boy, Polar Express, Water Day, 4s Circus, participation in the school-wide spring music program and our Mother’s Day Tea and Art Show.
Units of study include, but are not limited to:
Seasons and Holidays
Colors/Opaque & Transparent
Human Body/All About Me
Gingerbread Boy/Travels and Geography
