Rebecca has taught in Episcopal schools for the past 15 years across the southeast. She attended Birmingham-Southern College and earned degrees in Elementary Collaborative Education and Dance. She and her husband are members of the Episcopal Church of Ascension along with their two children; Anadine is 9 years old and attends Vestavia East and Carter is 3 years old and attends AEK.

April and her husband, Tim, have three children, Anna 15, Brooks 14, and John Robert 11 years old. She grew up in Vestavia and her sister actually went to Ascension as a preschooler!

Possessing a contagious enthusiasm, Alex Smith has been an amazing asset for Ascension Episcopal Kindergarten. Their warmth, creativity and drive makes them a great colleague and a perfect fit as a ECE Specialist.
Kelly is originally from Selma, AL, but currently resides in Vestavia and has been in the Birmingham area for 9 years. She has a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Special Education and a Masters degree in Severe Disabilities, both from The University of Alabama. She worked at Hueytown Elementary School as a special education teacher for six years. She and her husband, Alex, have two children, Welles (4) and Hagen (2). They are active members at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension and have been so for two years. She has been at AEK for one year, and taught as one of the 2’s teachers. " I look forward to many more amazing years at AEK!"
Katie recently moved to Birmingham from Austin, Texas. where she taught pre-K, kindergarten, first grade, and fourth grade. Her energy and compassion for teaching is a great fit for our 5K students. On the weekends she enjoys hiking with my her husband and puppy and taking in the beautiful scenery of Alabama. "By using fun and creative ways to teach lessons, I hope to foster a love of learning in my students."
Music/Movement and PE Teacher
Macey has lived in Hoover since 2009, and graduated from Birmingham-Southern College, where she received a B.A. in Music with Disciplinary Honors in Voice Performance. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking with friends, reading books, watching movies, and, of course, singing! "I believe that students learn musical skills exceptionally well through a holistic approach, so our classes will include singing, movement, listening, and improvisation."
